I realized at some point that I did a gen recs post, I did a Roy/Ed recs post, but I've never done a rec post for my other OTP, Elricest. So here I shall. Assume all links are not work-safe.

Unlike the first two posts, I'm gonna try and structure this one a little more. Rather than just listing favored authors, I'll try and organize them into different themes, stages, and categories.

First off: You'll wanna read the elricest entry in ship_manifesto. (Be sure to read the comments, too; there's more content in them.) It was written by anax, a classic writer in the Elricest ship. One thing you may notice in the following post is that certain authors get mentioned a lot. Well, that's because certain authors write lots and lots of excellent Elricest.

Stage 1: For the not-yet-converted. Fics that really make you believe in the pairings, see how it could happen, and how it could work. This can include either particularly convincing first-times, or just really strong already-together cases.

Man, some of these fics are extremely depressing. Let's move on to something a little fluffier...

Stage 2: First-times and get-togethers. One thing that's interesting about this particular pairing is that unlike most other pairings, many of the author's don't feel the need to describe 'growing closer' 'getting together' 'realizing their feelings' or 'first time' fics. In a sense, there's hardly any point, since their relationship is already canonically so close that most of the work is already done. So realization and first-time fics are a somewhat rarer animal in the Elricest ship than otherwhere. But there are still some.

These Arms In Yours are Brittle, by pellaz
Seasonal, by kaltia. She asked me to note that they actually do get together fairly early in the fic, and the fic continues for a LONG time afterwards. I fail to see why this is a problem.

Stage 3: General recs. Once you've been persuaded to accept the premise, you're ready to tackle on the greater body of Elricest works out there. This includes generally all kinds of good fic, from drama to death to humor.

Stage 4: Really Really Wrong recs. Okay, so you're a convert. Are you ready to experience the really wrong side of Elricest? Are you ready for genderswitch? Shota? Armorsex? Socketplay? Necrophilia? Tentacles? Then read on!

Stage 5: Ed Sandwich. Woo! If you're up on movie news, you know what's meant by Al/Ed/Al. ^_~ Okay, these are mostly AlhxEd, but whatever.

Ooh. *makes teh sparkly eyes* *_* Since a lot of my f-list is also comprised of active Elricest shippers, I've honestly been trying to get into the pairing more - the Envy also wants fics, too, so I'm trying to brush up ^^;; - and this rec list owns my soul. Agh, I've been waiting for a coherent rec list for this pairing for such a long time now.
