Author's Notes: This storyline will be continued in a new fic, covering Fai and Kurogane's return to Nihon from their travels, as well as Fai and Yuui's reunion. I decided to split it into its own story because it didn't really match the pace or tone of this one (which was mostly about Tomoyo and Yuui.) So for everyone looking forward to seeing Kurogane's reaction when he finds Yuui and Tomoyo together... don't worry, it will come!

Author's Notes: The Owara Kaze no Bon is based on a real event, but I've made some changes. Technically only trained dancers are allowed to perform, and the atmosphere of the festival is supposedly dark and melancholy rather than cheerful. But the important details - it's an autumn festival, which traditionally takes place after dark, and the dance is performed by unmarried men and women - are all from the original festival.

Author's Notes: At the end of The Curse of the Twins, Yuuko suggested to Yuui that he might be able to fight off his curse with the help of someone who loved him. A number of people wished in the comments that he would be able to find someone to make him happy, but for a long time I simply didn't know who. Yuui/Syaoron (popular in Holitsuba) just never appealed to me, and having him meet an alternate version of Kurogane and fall in love just seemed to cheapen the difficulties of their canon relationship. Instead, I wondered, how strange would it be if somewhere, one of the versions of Yuui/Fai was actually not gay?

Author's Notes: This is a sequel to my story "The Price of Ill Luck" (also known as "The Curse of the Twins"). It was an alt-universe, Yuui-centric story about a world where Yuui lived and Fai died, and the Wizard Flowright took to wandering the world in search of a cure for his sorrows. He met with Yuuko and learned from her that Fai still lived in other worlds, and the story ended with the strong implication that Yuui was going to travel to other worlds in search of him.

Summary: On his way home from work one day, Fai encounters a stray dog and decides to feed it. Before long, he finds that he's made a friend -- one determined to stay by his side and protect him whether he likes it or not.
Author's Note: What astonished me about Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle is not so much the fact that this fandom has a story where Fai is - literally - a cat that Kurogane adopts… but that there's more than one. This is sort of my answer to that.

( He was grateful to the dog for protecting him, but his apartment was too small to keep a large animal, and he couldn't afford the responsibilities that came with a pet. )

Summary: Written for the [info]kuroxfai_pop  challenge to swap around Kurogane and Fay's roles in a scene from the manga.
Author's notes: To make this idea work, it required two kind of unlikely things to happen -- first, that Fai would use magic to save one of his companion's life this early in the timeline, which he probably wouldn't have; and second, for Kurogane to get his ass kicked by a mook. I figured it was justifiable in this case because the oni aren't real, so Kurogane can't sense their auras; after all, he doesn't sense them sneaking up on him at all in the manga scene until Fai alerts him by throwing darts at them.

( Kurogane wasn't even sure that he wanted to be saved if it was going to mean he had to listen to Fai gloat. )

Spoilers for up to chapter 12 of Wizards. Indirect spoilers for up to the Ceres arc of Tsubasa as well; although it is an AU, many of the events are similar.

Author's Notes: This was written as a gift fic for Bottan, for her birthday. Her request was for Syaoran to get himself into trouble, and then for the others to protect him and get him out again.

Timeline: Volume 22 of the English translation, in Nihon.
Author's notes: Just a little playing around with the characters, getting to know them. Fai's POV.
An aside: In the canon, it was never explicitly mentioned that Fai knows what happened to Kurogane's parents; but by this point in the story, I think it's reasonable that he would have found out; if never earlier, then while he'd spent time in Nihon with Tomoyo and other people who know Kurogane's past, he probably would have heard at least the basic gist.


( It's not jealousy, although Fai knows Kurogane thinks it is. )
