Actually, it's about the threads I browsed on chuunin. Even aside from the multiple posts on the same topic spammage, the number of people bitching and wanking on each other in the comments dwarfs anything I've seen in the FMA fandom recently.
^^;; I could've told you that. Hence why I've been trying to avoid the Naruto fandom like the plague, especially because I'd probably be something OMG AWFUL like, say...an anti-Itachi fangirl. *shot* Just because I'm a social deviant. Maybe.
On that note, yeah, the Naruto fandom's wankier than the FMA fandom...if you're looking in the right places, that is. Here on LJ, FMA's pretty much calmed down. I'm tempted to predict a new batch of weirdos once they start airing new episodes again, but who knows? The dubbies on LJ are actually pretty cool. It's just when you venture away from LiveJournal that you find the wanky ones.

o_O Who tried to claim that? From what I've heard, it's wank as anything. Which is natural, I suppose, since Naruto is massively popular, and it seems to be a universal math equation that popularity leads to wank.
It's why I haven't ventured very far from my flist for fics and recs and crap. Wanky fandoms can actually diminish my love for the original product, and I love Naruto too much to get into flame wars about whether or not Orochimaru is REALLY evil.

I can only attribute the lack of wank to GITS's tendency to fly under the radar. Or maybe it's because I haven't gone looking. (Curiously enough, while GITS SAC is the only thing in the last year or so that has inspired me to even think of writing fic, I've never felt the urge to read any. Maybe I'm too busy trying to follow the plot. I was watching the first few episodes of GITS SAC with my older sister last week--which makes about the third or fourth time for me--and individual pieces of the arc plot still confuse me. I know all the answers, but not how they fit together.)
I have. And I think they didn't, because they're professionals, even in desperate straights, even though Bateau loves Motoko, and Bateau's more than a comrade-in-arms to Motoko. Motoko keeps her private life separated from her work with an electrified barbed-wire fence. I think she's attracted to him, but knows that not every intimate relationship can or should be consummated.
Also, it's sexier if they didn't. ^_~ But they wanted to.
I've read all the manga, seen both movies, all of 1st Gig, and everything of the 2nd that's out (up to 21), and I think my absolute favorite GITS anything is the entire final sequence of--what, 20?--to 26 in GITS SAC 1st Gig.
Well, yeah, because Togusa has a wife and chibis. And they'd cry.
Did I ever describe that bit in the manga after Motoko and Togusa have been injured in an explosion, and Motoko is moping and telling Togusa that the sooned her bites it, the sooner his wife can move on? Priceless. Particularly Togusa's expression.
