Spent today, as is the trend, reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
Sirius did not reappear. Lame.
Tonks hooked up with Remus. Even lamer. It was so dumb and arbitrary, and it totally emasculated Tonks' character to have her spend the entire book PINING FOR LUV. I must console myself with the thought that Remus has obviously transferred his affection for Sirius onto Sirius's only living relative.
Mikke's reading of the final scene (the only dialogue between them in the entire book, by the way, and thus the entire basis for this 'couple.')
Tonks: Remus, I pine for you!
Remus: No, it's impossible. It'll never work.
Tonks: Why not?
Remus: I'm a werewolf.
Tonks: I don't mind.
Remus: I'm twice your age.
Tonks: That's okay.
Remus: I'm gay.
Tonks: I can live with that.
Remus: I'm still in love with your dead cousin.
Tonks: Remus. I'm a Morphamagus, remember?
Remus: ...point. Okay, let's go out!
I'd say more, but that's really all I cared about.

"He could tell that Dumbledore understood, that he might even suspect that until his letter arrived, Harry had spent nearly all his time at the Dursleys' lying on his bed, refusing meals, and staring at the misted window, full of the chill emptiness that he had come to associate with dementors."
THESE WOUNDS WON'T SEEM TO HEAL
THIS PAIN IS MUCH TOO REAL
THERE'S JUST TOO MUCH THAT TIME CANNOOOOT ERASE
Work that emo, Harry.
Is it just me or is this book rather better edited than the last? Fewer CAPS OF RAGE and ... ... ... runon sentences.
Mikkeneko: Speaking of which, I really want to know how the hell dementors breed.
Mikkeneko: Or maybe I dont.
ArmorAlchemist: That... kind of worried me, when I read it. I'm hoping that it's just like fission or something; asexual reproduction. Because otherwise there are far too many unpleasant mental images to deal with. >_<
Mikkeneko: Yeah.
Mikkeneko: The image of dementor sex is not a good one.
ArmorAlchemist: ...no. *finds his mind unwilling to process the concept of someone actually writing Dementor!sex; especially considering what we already know about them*
ArmorAlchemist: ... how can they even feel arousal when they're based out of negative emotion, and... and... *finds his brain imploding, whimpers*
Mikkeneko: I sort of prefer the image of a Dementor leaving an... uh... Dementor-egg in the soulless husk of the people they Kiss.
Mikkeneko: and a couple days later the baby dementor bursts out and goes its way
ArmorAlchemist: I can actually kind of see that; it also kind of explains why they'd want to Kiss an individual when they can just drain it away over time... *nods, finds that much less scary than the alternatives*
Mikkeneko: amused that you find that prospect LESS scary
ArmorAlchemist: Hm... well, considering the other mental image was of Dementers shucking their Ringwraith Cloaks and getting it on, I think almost anything you would have said would have been less scary. ^_^;;;;
"You? I know you! You trust beyond reason."
"Yes. I do. It's how I get results beyond hope."
