christmas wish meme
Nov. 5th, 2005 03:26 pmLast night in the supermarket I saw them putting up Christmas decorations, so I guess it's time. :)
Step One:
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love aSnape/Hermione Sloth icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two:
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. Note: I've seen lots of people do this list, but it was ages ago, and I can't find them now. If you've done this meme, plz to put a link to your post in the comments of this one. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
The list:
1. Size 4 or 6 jeans. I went up a jeans size (or two) a few months ago and now only have one or two pairs that really fit comfortably... and jeans are expensive. ;_;
2. A better idea of what I'm going to do after college.
3. A toaster. I can't justify buying one when all I'm going to do with it is make raisin toast... but damn, I miss that raisin toast.
4. Peace on earth and goodwill to men. Failing that, donations to Red Cross. >.>
5. A (USB compatible) printer. Mine hasn't worked since the beginning of the year, and it's quite hampering sometimes to have to go into school to the computer lab to print out all of my assignments. I can't print mapquest directions, either. ;_; I'd also like copies of some PC games to play on this PC computer I have -- primarily Roller Coaster Tycoon. This one is mostly for *my own* reference so I don't forget, since I'm over 10.
6. A woman in the White House. Or maybe some more Sloth icons.
7. A kitty. (or paraphernalia to care for one.)
8. Ed/Scieszka fic. In fact, what I'd really love to see would be fic done by other people in my Menage universe.
9. Fanart for some of my fics. (What a hoor, a terrible hoor I am. ;_;)
10. Christmas cards. I love sending them and I love getting them. Sometime soon I'll do a "Post your addy if you want christmas cards" post too, with my address in it. I always buy my Xmas cards from the hunger site or affiliates, and it would make me warm and glowy if you could too.

Date: 2005-11-05 05:02 pm (UTC)...and as far as jeans go, I hit the thrift stores. At least around here it's super easy to find jeans in near perfect condition (especially sizes 2-8) for about $7 each at the Goodwill or Salvation Army. I never buy jeans fresh off the rack when I can pick up six nice pairs for the price of one. :3

Date: 2005-11-06 10:35 pm (UTC)Well, tbh, I've always secretly yearned for art for Menage... Ed being all goofy and fatherly. And almost nobody draws fanart of Winry, much less Scieszka. And for all that they're more or less my creations, I've never really been able to picture the kids. That's a lot of drawing, though. Seven people in that family...

(And my friend doesn't mind me sharing the fanart she drew for one of your fics, only Im supposed to be colouring it so I kind of need to finish that off first *headdesk*)
