Okay first off, everybody needs to be reading [livejournal.com profile] the_quagga's plotfic. It's Roy/Edish flavor, but it's really not fic about Roy/Ed. It's about Roy and Ed, on the battlefield, trying to stay alive and stay a little sane. And it's the most beautiful, gritty, in-character Edward I've seen in a long time. The latest installment is here; there are links to the previous parts in that post.

And now, because I realized that I DO have an OC I like...

1) What's your character's name? Briarstone, aka Lord Briarstone of Salamandastron
2) How old is he/she? Adult, but still young; maybe 18 or 19 in human years
3) Is your OC a boy or girl? Male.
4) What's his/her race? Badger. YES, I said badger. What of it?

Appearance:
1) If this character were to suddenly become part of the 3D world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would he/she get? Considering that he would basically be a giant (or maybe normal size, I don't know, but all the Redwall creatures seem to be about the same size) talking, armor-clad badger, I'd guess quite a lot.
2) Is your character considered normal in his/her own world? In the sense that badgers are normal in their world and that the Lord of Salamandastron is always a badger, yes he's normal; but there's only ever one Badger Lord at a time, so he's pretty unusual in that respect.
3) What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)? Most of the Badger Lords are just black and white, but Briarstone has sort of russet-brown markings in his coat as well.
4) Would you consider your OC as attractive? No, kthanx, I'm not into furries.

Personality:
1) Temper: He's capable, as all the Badger Lords are, of working up into a berserker rage.
2) Does your character ever get depressed? After a tragic event at Salamandastron, he became so depressed that he felt he was unworthy to lead his people and left the mountain alone.
3) Leader or Follower? Leader, and a very good one.
4) What is the main aspect of his/her personality? Briarstone was one of the most gentle and kindly Badger Lords to sit in state at Salamandastron, but he accepted the throne knowing that he might have to kill to defend the shores against the sea pirates, and he's willing to do that to protect the inland creatures.

History:
1) Does your OC have a family of any sort? He has no immediate blood relatives, but he considers the hares who raised him to be his family.
2) Is your character out on his/her own? He never left home, but he's essentially the king of a major fortress.
3) Has he/she encountered any traumatizing events?
A few years after he took the throne at Salamandastron, a mad wolverine named Gulo the Destroyer came out of the North, killing and savaging everything in his path. Huge as a badger, fierce as an ermine, nobeast could stand against his murderous frenzy; nobeast, that was, except for the Badger Lord Briarstone. On the crater of Salamandastron he met with the wolverine, and, after a fierce struggle, defeated him.

The battle nearly killed Briarstone, and he went into a delirious fever, plagued by hallucinations that he was still fighting Gulo. In his feverish madness, he accidentally killed two of his own hares, friends and family who had raises him from a child.

When he regained his wits, Briarstone was stricken by such remorse that he left Salamandastron before the hares could stop him. He does his best to help people wherever he goes, but he can't face the thought of returning home until he gets over his guilt.
4) What was probably the best time in his/her life so far? Living with the hares in Salamandastron while he was being groomed for the position of Badger Lord, when the seas were peaceful and there were no immediate threats on the land.

Romance:
1) Single? Yes.
2) Has your OC developed any romantic relationships? After he left Salamandastron, he eventually travelled to Redwall and met a young badgermaid there whom he fell in love with.
3) Virgin? Considering the utter lack of females of his own race for the first part of his life, I'm going to have to go with "yes," since the alternative is just too scary to imagine.
4) Does your character like flirting? No, it's never really been part of his worldview.

Symbolism:
1) What animal would you associate your OC with? ......badger.
2) Musical Instrument? The flute or the recorder
3) Element? Wood
4) Planet? Jupiter

Showing the Love:
1) Do you draw your character? No
2) Do you write about him/her? No
3) Do you use him/her in any rpgs? No
4) What other ways have you appreciated your OC? Well... I appreciate him in spirit. :)

RANDOMIZE!
1) Is your character wanted for anything? His hares want him back, because he's still their King and it's kind of necessary to have a Badger Lord in case the sea rats get uppity.
2) What are three weaknesses in him/her? He's young and inexperienced. He's also a little *too* gentle at times; he can be a bit of a pushover if someone bullies him, although try to push him too far and he'll come back at you. He has a hard time dealing with strong emotions of any kind, and can't cope with tragedy and loss.
3) Three strengths? He's very physically strong. He's also friendly and kind, and has a good sense of humor.
4) Does your OC drink or smoke (ect.)? Nobody smokes in the Redwall world that I know of; and I don't remember if the good guys drink alcohol or not, but Briarstone probably doesn't because he's too young to be in the habit.
5) What's one quirk about him/her? He likes to fool people by making up spinning unbelievable and impressive tales and telling them with a straight face. Unfortunately, most of the hares are on to him by now.
6) Does your character have any phobias? He's afraid of losing control.
7) What could you do to get him/her into a blind rage? Hurt innocents, senselessly destroy things, other general villainry. You could also just poke him with a sword until he bites your head off.
8) Does your OC like chickens? Some of his best friends are chickens. Or birds of some kind, at least.

The Final Question:
What would you consider your relationship with your character to be like? I think he's a woobie, and regard him fondly, but never enough to actually write the story he belongs in. :)
