Before anyone gets upset, no, Ouran is NOT replacing FMA as my new fandom. But a funny 250 word drabble is a lot easier to write after a long day than the next chapter of Temperance.

Anyway, I wanted to write this because I completely love the twins, and got to idly speculating about the real nature of their relationship.

No spoilers, since anyone who has seen any of Ouran at all knows the thing the twins do with each other. :)

Title: Double Act
Fandom: Ouran Koukou Host Club
Pairing: Hikaru/Kaoru

Once Haruhi, with that slightly glassy-eyed look everyone got if they hung around the Host Club too long, had asked them -- with much stuttering and blushing -- if it was really all an act.

They'd just grinned, and gone on to tease and flirt with Haruhi until Tamaki's blood pressure had skyrocketed. Neither of them had bothered to dignify such a patently ridiculous question with an answer.

Of course it was an act. They had explained it all before. It was all a game, an elaborately staged choreography. They'd explained the lure of the taboo for young women; homosexuality, incest, and the deliciously wicked thought of being caught between two such... devoted brothers made them the most popular choice of the Host Club, in spite of all Tamaki's jealous charm.

But there was nothing sincere about it, nothing true. It was all made up of lines carefully researched from backyard doujinshi, incredibly cheesy boys-love manga. Nobody could possibly mistake such syrupy, inflated, over-the-top sappiness as real.

No, it was an act, it was all completely an act. Anybody who knew the Hitachiin brothers, who knew that such a calf-eyed display of devotion and romance was anathema to their very nature, knew that it was an act. They were far too mischevious, too playful, too sarcastic and too wicked for such an idealized fairy-tale love to be sincere.

And to what the brothers really did with each other, in their own bed at night, the act bore absolutely no resemblance at all.

I still lack a Twinsly icon. ;_; Hurrah Maypirate!

*sighs happily* As much as I ADORE your FMA works, I will still take anything Ouran-related any day of the week. :3 This was great!! You should definitely write more 'twincest' as you capture them so well. Poor poor Haruhi, putting up with all those boys... (though I would gladly take her place anytime!!)

O.O

I shouldn't have gone to bed!

It's absolutely perfect, Minkie, and your sneaky ending makes me want to jump up and down and ask what they're doing at night.

And I have many twins icons I am happy to share with you, shall I upload them for you? :)

Eee! Yes! I'd love twin icons. :D

your sneaky ending makes me want to jump up and down and ask what they're doing at night.

Each other, of course. :DD But in a non-cliche-and-sappy way.

Huzzah, Ouran fic! And twincest Ouran fic no less! *bounces around your journal* The romance act is way too sappy, I know they like it rough with each other! >:3

I love the perspective on the difference between BL-doujinshi guy on guy behavior and how real men behave.

:D That rocks Mikke! The Twins were wonderfully in character; very sneaky and playful.

Great fic!

Here's hoping the next chapter of Temperance does decide to allow itself to be written at some point. I hear the lonely cry of the dedicated reader drifting across the 'Net: "I want to know how it turns out ... I want to know how it turns out ... "

Peace.
