A confession - and an apology

I've maintained this journal (and its predecessor on LJ) for a very long time, and I consider many of you my friends as well as loyal readers. So I thought I owed it to you to come clean, to let you know what I've done, and why.

I know that many of you greatly admire the fics I've written over the years, both in the FMA fandom and in TRC. I know that many of you first befriended me on the basis of these fics, and that you have been waiting eagerly for regular updates. I hate to have to admit to those people that this has all been a lie. Those stories were never written by me. I stole them from an origi-fic author and internet blogger aletternotread (you can go to her story page shortly to compare, if you want to.) All I did was to find-replace the names of her characters with fandom characters, and republish under my own name.

I can't really excuse what I've done. I was young, and I wanted attention, but I didn't have any story ideas of my own. I found this author I really admired, and it seemed to me a waste that she was just writing original fics that nobody would ever read, that she would never have any chance of publishing. I hoped that if I turned them into fanfics (and sometimes, turned the female characters into male characters so the relationship would be more yaoi) then they would be able to reach a wider audience.

aletternotread , I know I can never make up to you for what I've done. All I can say is that I'm sorry. And I'm sorry to all my readers and friends, too. It's been hard, over the years, keeping the secret and pretending that these stories were really mine, but I was too addicted to the attention and praise to stop. I know that the guilt is no more than I deserve. It's been a long journey since I was that insecure teenager, and the license plate said fresh and there were dice in the mirror. If anything, I could say the cab was rare. I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Aire.

At first I was like..."How is this even POSSIBLE...no way..." And I totally didn't believe it. At all. I was in dumbfounded shock and remembered occasions where I threw ideas at you to try and make them stick or even posted part of a chapter for you...and then you rewrote it and I liked your version of my story better than me.

And then what of the challenges?! How could....and hey, that aletternotread name sounded familiar, just couldn't place it....
