Had some trouble remembering where this episode happened. For some reason I thought it was later in the 30s than it was... but no. It was sort of a filler episode between the end of the Izumi/Greed plot and the beginning of the Lior/Pride plot. Definitely not one of my faves.

Man: Our village is afflicted with a horrible disease and –
Audience: Don't care.
Woman: The man I love is in love with someone else and –
Audience: Don't care.
Man: My alchemy isn't good enough to save my people and --
Audience: DON'T CARE.
Envy: Just in case you'd forgotten what bastards we are, here it's revealed that we've spent the last god knows how many years going around torturing and slaughtering people wholesale in the faint hope that one of them will be desperate, clever, and crazy enough to create the Philosopher's Stone just to get us off their backs.
Ed: Hmm, doesn't that plan strike anyone else as a little chancy, oh, and DUMB-ASS?
Envy: …Well, why not? It worked.
Man: Lust, I love you!
Audience: Still don't care.
Lust: Maybe I'm not so much of a bitch after all. Oh wait, I am.
Man: *dies horribly*
Woman: *dies horribly*
Everyone in village: *dies horribly*
Audience: …You know, it's a good thing we didn't care, because GEEEEUCH.
Ed, Al, and Winry: Why the hell are we even in this episode?

But this episode is super important for Ed! He gets to break the face of the guy who called him small instead of Al holding him back! ^^

And I care. I like Lust. This all foreshadowing for the recent eps.

Well, since I don't actually bother to do things like checking my sources, these QES's are based entirely off of my memory of an impression of an episode. I only saw this one once, and I mostly remember an annoyed boredom with the girl we were supposed to be sympathizing with, and the "ewYUCK" moment with the disease. Yes, in retrospect all the Lust screentime was important, but at the time, it was just frustrating. "Look, I have depth! No wait, still evil."

I'd completely forgotten Ed punching the guy out!
