I don't feel like retyping it in paragraph format, but this is something I'm curious about.
Warning: Episode 50 spoilers
mikkeneko: I still think Roy's plan was kinda dumb, y'know
mikkeneko: he didn't HAVE to start a rebellion. he really didn't
mikkeneko: explain to me what difference it would have made if Havoc had just sat up there pretending to be Roy, and Roy sneaks into the Fuhrer's house and kills him?
mikkeneko: This recipe calls for no rebellion.
zalia: true
zalia: but Roy always has to be dramatic
mikkeneko: I think the stated point of the rebellion was to draw more troops away from Central so that his path would be clear to the Fuhrer
mikkeneko: except uh... the Fuhrer is the head of state
mikkeneko: ANY troops they keep in the city will be guarding the Fuhrer
zalia: absolutely
mikkeneko: So you're gonna have to sneak around them anyway.
zalia: yup... no chance of him taking them out
zalia: there's no logic to it
mikkeneko: Hell, if Hawkeye was particularly on her feet, she might even have snuck him back up to the North border and they could pass off his injury as line of duty
zalia: that's a good idea
mikkeneko: I'm just sayin' it could have been done without throwing away his ambitions (and all the fangirls' fond hopes) of him as Fuhrer.

Date: 2005-03-01 02:59 pm (UTC)The intent of the rebellion was, I think, threefold: to throw the military into confusion, to prevent Havoc from getting whacked while people thought he was Roy, and (IMHO most important) to make it easier for Havoc to maintain his masquerade for as long as possible. After all, it's easier to pretend to be Roy while you're sitting around in a tent than if people expect you to go out flamethrowing. :)
