Title: The Heralds of the White God chapter 10 - Trust My Words
Rating: M
Warnings: An excess of philosophy in the last scene, but not much else.
Summary: In which Kurogane undertakes an unexpected and entirely unwanted journey, and Fei Wong Reed reveals the method to his madness.

Author's Notes: Kozelorug is an entirely made-up word, formed by taking the Belarusian word for "goat" and a Russian compound meaning "unicorn." I didn't really want to call them kirin, which they're not, nor talbuk, even if they totally are.

Title: The Heralds of the White God chapter 13 - Things Seen and Unseen
Rating: M
Warnings: Violence this chapter.
Summary: In which Kurogane and Syaoran encounter an ambush in the desert, and Sakura begins to see glimpses of the truth behind the veil.

Author's note: Kendappa's comment about dancing is a passing reference to the legend of Amaterasu, whom she supposedly incarnates. When the sun goddess hid in a cave, plunging the world into darkness, the other gods arranged a massive party outside her cave, including the Kami of Merriment, who performed a raunchy dance on top of a washtub in order to try to lure Amaterasu out again.

Title: Fifty Ways to Kill Your Lover
Rating: NC17
Trigger warning: This story contains several scenes of intense violence, some in a domestic or sexual situation. If you are sensitive to that sort of thing, please do not read this fic.
Summary: Fai can't get Kurogane out of his mind. Spoilers for up to Outo.

Author's Note: This was written as an entry for the Fluff/Angst Olympics on the kuroxfai community on LJ, in support of Team Angst. The 'unemployed world' from the final scene is taken from the TRC anime - those who have seen it may remember it as the episode where Sakura took all those odd jobs in order to save enough money to buy the feather of that world.

Title: Decorum
Rating: R
Warnings: Sex, silliness.
Spoilers: Post-series, no explicit reference to series end.
Summary: Kurogane figured, with as much work as it was going to take to make Fai presentable to the court at Nihon, he had better start teaching him now.
Author's Notes: Written for Reikah.

Title: Goodwill Mission
Rating: PG

Author's Note: This was written for bottan/konnichipuu's birthday, and also for her adorable fanart: "Mission to Mars".

Title: The Third Thing
Rating: PG
Warnings: None really. Mild angst, sweetness.
Spoilers: Post-series, spoilers for the Nihon arc.

Author's Notes: This is a sequel to my story "The Price of Ill Luck" (also known as "The Curse of the Twins"). It was an alt-universe, Yuui-centric story about a world where Yuui lived and Fai died, and the Wizard Flowright took to wandering the world in search of a cure for his sorrows. He met with Yuuko and learned from her that Fai still lived in other worlds, and the story ended with the strong implication that Yuui was going to travel to other worlds in search of him.

Title: The Third Thing
Rating: PG
Warnings: None really. Mild angst, sweetness.
Spoilers: Post-series, spoilers for the Nihon arc.

Author's Notes: At the end of The Curse of the Twins, Yuuko suggested to Yuui that he might be able to fight off his curse with the help of someone who loved him. A number of people wished in the comments that he would be able to find someone to make him happy, but for a long time I simply didn't know who. Yuui/Syaoron (popular in Holitsuba) just never appealed to me, and having him meet an alternate version of Kurogane and fall in love just seemed to cheapen the difficulties of their canon relationship. Instead, I wondered, how strange would it be if somewhere, one of the versions of Yuui/Fai was actually not gay?

Title: The Third Thing
Rating: PG
Pairing: Yuui/Tomoyo. Romance, sweetness, mild angst.
Spoilers: Post-series, spoilers for the Nihon arc.

Author's Notes: The Owara Kaze no Bon is based on a real event, but I've made some changes. Technically only trained dancers are allowed to perform, and the atmosphere of the festival is supposedly dark and melancholy rather than cheerful. But the important details - it's an autumn festival, which traditionally takes place after dark, and the dance is performed by unmarried men and women - are all from the original festival.

On to the epilogue

Title: The Third Thing
Rating: PG
Pairing: Yuui/Tomoyo. Romance, sweetness, mild angst.
Spoilers: Post-series, spoilers for the Nihon arc.

Author's Notes: This storyline will be continued in a new fic, covering Fai and Kurogane's return to Nihon from their travels, as well as Fai and Yuui's reunion. I decided to split it into its own story because it didn't really match the pace or tone of this one (which was mostly about Tomoyo and Yuui.) So for everyone looking forward to seeing Kurogane's reaction when he finds Yuui and Tomoyo together... don't worry, it will come!

On to "Family Portrait"
mikkeneko: (syaoran)

The Missing Worlds - Water World III
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: This story is set in the uncertain period after Piffle World, but before Recourt; in other words, in the same never-neverland that the second season of the anime mostly took place in. This means that Fai has not yet learned to whistle, Syaoran is still the original Syaoran, and nobody knows anything about Kurogane's childhofod.

Summary: The travelers face the evil at the heart of the vortex, and what kind of a lame power is Heart, anyway?

~to be continued...

Author's Notes: Yeah, Princess Tideflower is eighteen; Syaoran just jumped to conclusions about her age. And yes, that means that this version of Sakura is kind of a derp. Well, when you're part fish, you do the best you can.

More translation notes: the word Fai uses is actually a piece of advanced Celesian magical terminology. It refers to a specific concept: that of the magical leakage which occurs when a caster has insufficient control over his spell, with the connotation that the uncontrolled magic may gain a sort of sentience of its own and the implied warning that it may not necessarily be friendly to the caster. But since Mokona didn't have the space to translate that into a single word, and neither Kurogane nor Syaoran's language have an equivalent term, it got translated as 'emanations,' and sounded blurry in Syaoran's ears as he couldn't fully grasp the concept Fai was getting at. 'Manifestations' would have been another possible translation.

The Missing Worlds - Middle Earth I
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: This story is set in the uncertain period after Piffle World, but before Recourt; in other words, in the same never-neverland that the second season of the anime mostly took place in. This means that Fai has not yet learned to whistle, Syaoran is still the original Syaoran, and nobody knows anything about Kurogane's childhood.

Summary: Ancient China as it never was.

More Author's Notes:

The second world they visit is China - or more specifically, "Ancient China as it Never Was," based on the series of books by author Barry Hughart starting with Bridge of Birds.

The colorful character of Li Kao as well as the setting of China and much of the style of storytelling is borrowed from Hughart's books. If you liked Li Kao and would like to read more about him, be sure to check out his and Number Ten Ox's adventures in Bridge of Birds. If you didn't like him… well, read them anyway, because they're much better than my poor attempts at imitation!

Author's Note: Idioglossia - or "twin speak" - is a real phenomenon, although experts are divided as to whether it can be considered a real separate language or not. Either way, idioglossia tends to be most advanced and developed in instances where twins are neglected as young children and left to speak exclusively to each other, which Fai and Yuui definitely were. Private nick-names are also a common feature of this kind of speech.
